Scroll Smart Growth America developed this tool with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. This tool is designed to measure the benefits of building Activity-Friendly Routes to Everyday Destinations through Complete Streets. These efforts are part of the Active People, Healthy Nation Initiative SM that is working to help 27 million Americans become more physically active by 2027. Complete streets are streets for everyone. Design and operate the entire right of way to enable safe access for all users, regardless of age, ability, or mode of transportation. What we mean by Complete Streets Model the benefits of community projects. Model the benefits of a specific Complete Streets project with this data-driven tool that measures and projects benefits across the impact categories of health, safety, environment, and economy—using an equity approach. How our tool works How was this tool produced? This tool was developed through a yearlong process of identifying metrics (beyond the conventional technique of cost-benefit analysis) to measure the benefits of project-level interventions in a holistic way.
